I tour, a lot.
This past year was no exception, I successfully toured around the world, twice. There always comes a time though when the tour comes to an end. Your year of hard work slows down and you finally get some me time to yourself.
Part of me is excited to have time off, to see friends and spend time working on relationships with people you don't get to see enough.
Part of me is bored out of my mind because all these friends still have jobs they goto during the day and you, don't.
I've been working on filling my time with a few things.
What do you guys do to fill your time?
I started going to the gym: Now on tour it is totally possible to work out, however iI do not. I hate going to the gym andIi hate working out on tour even more on top of it. This gym has been good so far though as i'm lucky enough to have a 24hour gym in the building I live reside at in California. 2 miles of running a day or every other day mixed with weights.
I'm getting back into sailing: Water has always been a big part of my life, I guess you could say I was raised in a boating family. I used to race on a couple sailboats, we used to have a sailboat. I finally started sailing again and its been some of the most fun I've had in a long time.
I get to GO TO shows: Nothing is more enjoyable than seeing your touring friends on a tour you are not on. House of Blues, Wiltern, whatever. Going to shows where you can simply just enjoy the show is great. There's no load in or load out or fix this or restring this.
I go out a few nights a week: Weather it's out to dinner, a bar to meet friends for drinks or to a madhouse I enjoy going out with friends and getting weird.
I try to focus on writing: This has been the hardest part of probably everything as I am one of those people that cannot write just to write. I have to feel like writing in order for me to be happy with what I am typing. This is especially hard because I am trying to get this book written and having writers block sucks.
These are just a couple things i do when i'm off tour, It's pretty normal stuff because I consider myself to be a pretty normal guy. I think its important to try new things but to also do things that you enjoy.
What do you do to kill the time when you aren't busy?
