Make Believe came out with their new collection called Forever Onward just in time for Back To School. Make Believe founder, David Blaise who was in the band This Providence, let me pick his brain about the new collection. He's also giving you a chance to win a shirt from the new line.
Danny Kurily: How did you get into starting your own clothing line?
David Blaise: I started getting into graphic design and apparel design when I was in high school. I joined a band signed to Fueled By Ramen and began designing the merchandise. Designing, coming up with concepts and trying my best to keep it all cohesive was definitely a challenge at times, but it was so rewarding seeing the final product. It just made sense to try it outside of the band where I could have more freedom.
DK: What would you say your style is for this new line?
DB: We wanted to keep the vintage/throwback aesthetic of Make Believe's previous releases, but I wanted to pull back on some of the heavy branding we've done in the past. I think we found a good medium!
DK:What do you feel is super in/out right now?
DB: Muscle tanks and floral designs have been really popular this summer… It just so happens we have both in this line!
DK: What is the next big trend?
DB: Clow shoes.
DK: What/Who do you use for inspiration when coming up with new clothing ideas/designs?
DB: Make Believe has primarily focused on graphics, but this is actually the first line we've done something different. I'm super proud of our short sleeve woven shirts. You guys NEED to check these out!
David & I teamed up together to give you a chance to WIN the Floral Flag shirt from the new collection:
