I recently was able to come home to Michigan for a week. It is full on summer here, which means I am beyond excited. Instead of picking a place this week to talk about I figured I'd talk about some of my favorite things to do in the summer.
Go boating! I grew up on the water, as a small child and even into my teen years my family always had boats or a cottage on a lake or something. Sometimes I think I might feel more comfortable on the water than on land. So get out there and have fun! Most local parks let you rent sail boats or network with your friends and get out on the lake. Wake boarding is really fun along with sailing, and jet skiing. Make sure you have the proper life vests and gear though, otherwise you could be looking at a hefty fine if you are pulled over.
Rent a cabin/go camping for a weekend. Do some research and figure out what parks or camp grounds are somewhat close to your house. Nothing is better than spending a weekend with your friends on a lake or laying out in a tent all weekend.
White water rafting. Obviously you need some what water rivers to do this activity. I've been a couple times and can say it is a lot of fun. It is also something that you always don't get to do which can make for a memorable experience.
Get into a outdoor sport. I like to play golf, I'm not good at it but it is fun to go out and play. Other people play ultimate frisbee or tennis or soccer. There are a lot of pick up leagues in my area that you can just show up and play at.
If none of these seem like a good idea then just get outside, have fun with your friends and enjoy the sun. Some of the best memories i have are from the summers
